He was knocked out cold there for a few days. He looked bad. And than he had the nerve to share it with me. Which in turned knocked me out cold also. We are finally on the upswing of this thing. We believe it is a cold. I just have a cough at night until midnight and than again at 5am. this morning I gave up that idea of going back to sleep after 1 1/2 hours of coughing. Only fair to let Jim get some sleep. Jim is back to the food bank and I am hoping to be back swimming by tomorrow. We both went stir crazy for awhile as the TV has to be one of the most boring things going anymore. My eye's hurt to much to do any reading, this kind of stuff always makes me think of those that have migraines poor people. We were on Vancouver Island B.C. for the snow storm and they got hit hard. They were lost as what to do as snow does not stick there it melts as it hits the ground they said. We got off the ferry and there was already an inch of snow by the time we got to our motel room for the night it was 3-4". We decided to go into town get some groceries and eat dinner so we did. We had price shock to say the least. I do not know how they live there. We kept our groceries in the trunk without any fear. Woke up to 2' (ft) of snow. Luckily the owners had a friend with a tractor and a plow attachment to clear the parking lot. It was still snowing for awhile and we were not sure about going to the resort. In the afternoon we decided to give it a try. Luckily we were with in 3 miles or so and mostly on the bus routes which they did clear sort of. We made it safely and they let us register and go to our flat, apartment, what ever. It was very nice and facing the bay. The view was pretty the few times we saw it. We got out 3 times twice to get food and once to come home. Jim was upset as he had plans to go all over the place and check out some fishing places. We lost power one day for about 4 - 6 hours. Jim slept through most of it. I read by flashlight it was fun. I got to see the sunrise every morning and it was pretty on the days you could see it. One day they called us to tell us we would be without water for about 4 hours luckily we were going for our workout and missed it for the most part. They had to fix something. One day it froze the bay Jim said I was not seeing right as it was salt water and do you know how cold it has to get to freeze salt water? I said well come here and look I can see the path where the geese are swimming. He finally came and looked and told me I was wrong. I told him I was right. The next morning there are ice chunks in the bay all over and Jim looks out and says the bay froze over look at all the ice. I told him he was crazy and did he know how cold it has to get to freeze ice water? We had a nice chuckle. I have also see my first for real white out. I mean the kind that you can not see your hand on your nose kind, or the light on the back porch kind. It was freaky yet cool. I thought that this what it must be like in Alaska and the North Pole. I also had never been so cold. I do not think I would make it in Alaska during the winter. We came home on Friday as it was to get hit by another Storm on Saturday. We left by noon and hit snow within 10 min. on the road and it was coming down hard by the time we got to the ferry terminals. No snow on the main land and we were glad to get out of there when we did. We have film to be developed and will get some pictures up hopefully soon. Sophie Elizabeth 5lbs. 8 oz. 18 1/2 " her due date was Oct. 16th. She is doing great and mom and dad are in new parent world, sort of floating around and most likely wishing for some time by themselves. We are so very greatfull that they are all okay. When we got home from the hospital that evening Jenna called and let us know that she is pregnant also. She figures May is her due date. That will be fun to have another baby coming in a few more months. It actually took awhile to sink in as I was still worried about Taryn as she did not look to good to me after the delivery of Sophie. But when we saw her the next day all worries fanished and a breath of calmness filled me and I knew it was over and everything would be okay. Sophie was doing great, but mom. We are excited for every new baby that comes to our family. We now have 21 grandchildren with one on the way. We love being grandparents. Thanks to all those of you that have made it possible and allow us to play with your beautifull children. We truly do feel privledged. It was an overcast day a little chilly at 2am when we got up. We were on our way by 2:35am. We each packed a breakfast in case the restaurant was closed that Jim went to with Dick earlier this year or last year. We arrived at 4:15am found the charter office they moved down the block, got registered and looked for the restaurant which is no longer open in the am. We found the restrooms and a parking spot and got on the boat by 5:? am . The captain gave his safety speech and how to fish and I added no smokers around me or we would be going back to land and getting me to the hospital. We stayed at the front of the boat and the smokers in the back. We went for about 1/2 an hour ride or better and started fishing. The first few fishes were dog fish most caught in the back of the boat one in the front. Than my line (grandma) went slack and the guy next to me says start reeling you got a fish start reeling. Jim comes over (quickly) and confirms. I was reeling but felt like nothing was happening. They said it had to be a King with how it dove down. I fought it until my hands went numb and so I handed it over to Jim and he finished the job. It sure was a pretty fish and the the first keeper. After I got the use of my hands I started back (just a few minutes) and I got myself another fish a silver this time, once again I had to give my pole to Jim to finish bringing it in. I find this very frustrating to not be able to bring in the fish after fighting it so hard. I do at least get the good fight part. That was my limit but we all get to keep fishing until the boat has its limit. Cool. The guy on my left keeps getting dog fish. He did finally get his limit and than a 3rd also which was his largest and he does not get to have it. Good reason to take a spouse. I got my 3rd one and we went to the front of the boat and almost had it in but the deck hand does not get it, I turn my back and am holding the pole with my arms crossed in front of me as I have no use of my hands at all and I walk towards the front to try to bring it in to no avail. I give Jim the pole and he brings it in again. This time I am out for awhile as I got shocks going on in my back and arms and can not move a finger, kind of like a cartoon drawing. Jim gets that fish he is number 6. After things settle down enough I start again we are down to the 2 last fish to limit the boat. One is caught up front and than another but it is a dog fish and than some wilds are caught and have to be put back. I get another bite and it is fighting good I have to pass to Jim quickly this time as my nerves are not happy. Jim fights for a while the fish jumps up in the air it is nice looking to and it dives into the ocean and spits out the hook on its way those stupid barb less hooks. Someone else catches the last one and we are back in to shore 2+ hours early. Everyone got their limit and so Jim got my 3rd fish and than he is the first person that gets to pick out from the extra fish caught by those with their limits they have them all laid out nice for him and the deck hand says take your pick. Jim felt like a kid in a candy store and picked the biggest one. Jim did have one but lost it right away those stupid barb less hooks. He did get a dog fish or 2.
We get home Jim takes care of the fish and eats some for dinner. Tim took our picture with them (we are waiting for a copy to be sent to us). Monday Jim and Dick go back out there are 17 people on their boat (we had 13) and they caught a total of 5 for the whole boat. But they got to see a shark.
I catch and Jim brings them in we are a good team!!
